At Obichi PitchLab, we value and respect intellectual property (IP) rights. This section provides important information on how IP is handled within our platform, ensuring that students, mentors, and investors understand their rights and responsibilities.

1. Who Owns the IP of Submitted Projects?

  • Students retain full ownership of their ideas, research, and innovations.

  • Submission of a pitch does not transfer any IP rights to Obichi PitchLab or its partners.

  • Any collaborations or investments arising from participation will be subject to separate agreements between the involved parties.

2. How Can You Protect Your Idea?

  • Patents & Trademarks – If your project involves an invention, consider filing for a patent before publicly disclosing critical details.

  • Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) – If sharing sensitive business details, you may request an NDA before engaging with investors or partners.

  • Copyright & Trade Secrets – Protect written content, software, and proprietary methodologies through copyrights or by keeping certain aspects confidential.

3. What Happens When You Pitch Your Idea?

  • Your pitch video will be publicly visible to investors, experts, and the Obichi PitchLab community.

  • We do not claim any ownership over the ideas submitted.

  • While we encourage ethical practices, we recommend that applicants take appropriate legal steps to safeguard their innovations.

4. Responsibilities of Investors, Mentors, and Partners

  • Investors & Mentors must respect confidentiality and avoid using any student’s idea without permission.

  • Partnerships and funding agreements must be transparent and honor the original creator’s IP rights.

  • Any collaboration beyond the platform should involve clear written agreements between parties.
